Health

This year 1st of December would mark exactly 4years my aunt died of breast cancer. If she was still alive she would be 56 years old today😭😭. Aunty Nneoma, May your soul rest in Peace😥.
Her death was a shock to us, especially my dad, cause we had done what we thought was medically right,I mean my dad is a pharmacist, so when it comes to medication he knew them just perfectly.My grandma couldn't explain life any longer, her only daughter died before her (Chimo). Who would have known late dictation would lead to death. Where I come from we believe God has the final say. So well, As much as tears have ceased from our eyes, today brings back memories to my heart.
To honor the "Breast Cancer Awareness day" we would be addressing some issues on breast
Cancer.

Breast cancer is the second most common cancer in the world and the most common cancer in females accounting to 23% of all cases.
According to World Health Organization (WHO)
There are two early detection method;
  1. Early diagnosis or awareness of early signs and symptoms in symptomatic populations in order to facilitate diagnosis and early treatment, and
  2. Screening that is the systematic application of a screening test in a presumably asymptomatic population. It aims to identify individuals with an abnormality suggestive of cancer.

The screenings include;

Mammography screening

Mammography screening is the only screening method that has proven to be effective. Although there is evidence that organized population-based mammography screening programmes can reduce breast cancer mortality by around 20% in the screened group versus the unscreened group across all age groups, in general there appears to be a narrow balance of benefits compared with harms, particularly in younger and older women. There is uncertainty about the magnitude of the harms – particularly overdiagnosis and overtreatment. Mammography screening is very complex and resource intensive and no research of its effectiveness has been conducted in low resource settings.

Breast self examination (BSE)

There is no evidence on the effect of screening through breast self-examination (BSE). However, the practice of BSE has been seen to empower women, taking responsibility for their own health. Therefore, BSE is recommend for raising awareness among women at risk rather than as a screening method.

Clinical Breast Examination (CBE)

Research is underway to evaluate CBE as a low-cost approach to breast cancer screening that can work in less affluent countries. Promising preliminary results show that the age-standardized incidence rate for advanced-stage breast cancer is lower in the screened group compared to the unscreened group (Sankaranarayanan, 2011).

I'll be sharing helpful sites, do well to read
In the end I would like to say: To those who know people battling with breast cancer or something related.

Cancer can touch you, but not your soul; neither your thoughts not your heart” "There is no medicine like hope, no incentive so great, and no toxic so powerful like expectation of something tomorrow"Faith is the strength by which a shattered world shall emerge into the light."
